| DAIQUIRI |
| Daiquiri is an electro-punk duo from Ottawa, Canada. In 1999, the band started as a four-piece but has now been reduced to it's core members: Mike Hickey [Vocals, Electronics] and Leigh Newton [Guitar, Bass, Keyboard, Drums, Programming]. Together they serve up an infectious soup full of chunky samples, choppy riffs and chewable vocals. Influences include Aphex Twin, Destiny's Child and Devo among many others. Daiquiri has also had the pleasure of touring with Estradasphere, Faxed Head, Neil Hamburger and Tub Ring. Daiquiri
creates intoxicating music with precision, humour and intensity. Their
style has elements of pop, punk and techno, yet refuses to bow down
to embassing descriptions like: "spazzy synthesizer metal"
or "noise rock with drum n' bass electronic beats." Daiquiri's
second album "Box Office Poison" is released on Kharbe Records
and features an electro-punk cover of Missy Elliott's "Get Your
Freak On". Their next album promises to have Kelis' "Milkshake"
- satisfying your desire for aural pleasure. |

Tribute
To Faith No More: Tribute Of The Year is a challenging release.
Tribute albums are notorious for disappointing fans and alienating listeners
who aren't receptive to reinterpretations of their favourite songs.
Tribute Of The Year predominantly features underground industrial metal
bands butchering perfect songs originally by Faith No More. There are
a couple of decent covers on this compilation, like Daiquiri's "Everything's
Ruined" and Tub Ring's "Mouth To Mouth". Overall, this
collection of covers will not live up to high expectations from the
most hardcore of Faith No More fans. |

April
19, 2004 Toronto (ON), Club Rockit.
Daiquiri deliver an unforgetable live experience by adding their special blend of energetic electronics and powerful presence on stage. Their original material is a fantastic force which is best felt live. Memorable highlights include their unique cover of Kelis' "Milkshake" which propelled Club Rockit into orbit. Within seconds, it's pulsating intro got audience members dancing. Daiquiri combined the infectious beat of Milkshake with minor lyrical alterations, creating a hilarious hardcore version. Overall, it was a faithful cover to Kelis' killer hip hop anthem, complimented by their own exceptional tunes. Seeing Mike and Leigh performing their incredible songs was a spectacle to behold. |
